Welcome to Dialogue Centre. Our passion and mission is developing a culture of dialogue and cooperation. We believe that good dialogue is the key to better relationships, more effective communication and deeper understanding in communities and organisations alike. In today's complex times we support humanity and the ability to jointly create wise, innovative and sustainable solutions, contributing to the resilience of society as a whole.

How we help – our approach and methodology

Training and workshops

Our training sessions and workshops build the skills needed to work strategically with polarisation and support the development of leaders of the middle and participatory leaders. Participants can also learn to lead dialogue and facilitate discussions. They leave with practical tools for building cooperation in teams and communities and for strengthening social cohesion.

Supporting democratic innovation

We help local governments and organisations introduce democratic innovations – from process design to the tools that let them become a natural part of everyday practice.

Participation and facilitation

We design, organise and facilitate processes that allow groups to make full use of their collective intelligence. Our work follows three steps:

  1. We build trust – we create a safe environment where people feel heard and want to share their thoughts.
  2. We look for ideas – we encourage creativity and open discussion.
  3. We join forces – we help groups agree on priorities and turn them into concrete solutions.

Our story in brief

Dialogue Centre n. o. was founded in 2018 out of the conviction that dialogue can change society for the better. Its roots lie in cooperation with partners abroad – specifically in London, where the organisation UK CEE Dialogue Centre stood at its birth. Since 2019 we have been active in Slovakia and internationally – we create spaces for understanding and cooperation, build people's capacity for dialogue and social cohesion, and support strategic work with polarisation. We believe that managing polarisation is the foundation of an environment in which participatory dialogue, cooperation and the joint search for sustainable solutions can thrive. We are based in Banská Bystrica, but our projects reach beyond Slovakia's borders. Our values are courage, cohesion and sustainable solutions.
